salopp is an independent magazine for young photography. It provides a space for unknown new work. Founded by a graphic designer and four photographers, salopp presents a wide range of artists, each showing their unique visual world. salopp is published as often as possible. “Spaces“ exhibition brings together Berlin’s photographers in an attempt to explore photography in all its dimensions. The expanse between the photobook, as an independent space, and the „Urban Spree Galerie“ as an open exhibition area is the main theme of this exhibition. Our exhibition is not only dedicated to the various forms of photographic depiction but also investigates the medium’s potential as an art form, expanding photography’s capacity of representation.The forms of enactment raise the question of how the pictures on the wall, in books or as installations change and affect the viewer’s perception. Greg Girard and Ian Lambot started a Kickstarter campaign to publish a new extended edition of their in 1993 released and sold-out book „City of Darkness: Kowloon Walled City“ including new photographs and many previously unpublished drawings and documents. The city was the most densely populated place on earth before its demolition in 1992. Although already fully financed you can still support the project until April 18th and receive original prints and signed books as a thank-you. The book will be published in summer 2014.

After the open call, Simon Karlstetter and Leon Kirchlechner from Der Greif had to tackle the task of selecting 279 photographs from 279 photographers from 33 countries to constitute the basis for the entire exhibition.
