„A picture a day“ is the photoblog of Jule Steffen and Matthias Schmidt, both freelance art directors
(and avocational photographers) living and working in Cologne, Germany.
They are the founders of kikkerbillen and co-founders of metabeta.
On a picture a day Jule and Matthias – besides some sporadic guests – are posting one picture every day for almost 5 years now.
Recently they launched their call for submissions* (please see below) to invite guests more frequently. They also started kikkerbillen.tumblr.com as a copy of the initial site with some additional entries concerning all kinds of things they find interesting.
The long-term plan is to widen out a picture a day into a platform for dedicated amateur and professional photographers with options to discuss the respective works, to get to know each other and to be inspired.

Dear visitors and fellow photographers,
A picture a day is a project by kikkerbillen where we show a new picture from everyday life – every day.
you are kindly invited to join the project and to be our guest for a week!
send us seven pictures out of your photographic collection – whatever you may find may interesting, fascinating, adorable, or on the contrary side of life – however: worth showing.
together with the pictures send us your name, a few words about and maybe a title for the series and and a url to which we can link during your guestweek.
something to consider: A picture a day is a non-profit, artistic project. and to be absolutely honest: yes, we reserve our option to reject suggested work.
another detail: please make sure, that you have the right to publish the pictures and grant us according approval.
