In his new series Behind The Glass, Berlin artist Enrico Nagel enters on new territory.
In his previous collages the face was mostly obscured, denying the viewer any identification with or sight of the individuality of the figures. Now in the scan works of the Behind The Glass series the focus has shifted to the face. However, the images produced by the 30 seconds of scanning are still far from being classical portraits. Intimate moments, captured without being filtered through the gaze of the photographer, these recordings find their place outside of notions of snapshot or staged photography.
