»A Process«
Neue Galerie im Höhmannhaus, Maximilianstr. 48, 86150 Augsburg
Opening: March 28th, 2014
On view from March 28th – May 18th
After the open call, Simon Karlstetter and Leon Kirchlechner from Der Greif had to tackle the task of selecting 279 photographs from 279 photographers from 33 countries to constitute the basis for the entire exhibition.
Congratulations to ACMV contributors Tim Bowditch, Yoshi Kametani, Birgit Krause, Pietro Motisi and Kate Nolan, who are taking part in »A Process«!

First part
Yesterday evening the exhibition opened with a grid hanging of all 279 (31 horizontal / 9 vertical) pre-selected photographs. The photographs were printed fitting a 13x13cm grid (respecting individual aspect ratios) and cover an entire wall in the gallery.
After the exhibition’s opening a further selection process will take place and pictures will be gradually moved from the wall to tables over the course of the next two months. Possible re-groupings and combinations will be found. These combinations will be visible both in the gallery and on the exhibition’s online-timeline. As a result the wall grid will constantly diminish whereas the previously empty tables will be filled. The tables will be the evidence of the finding and re-contextualization process as identical pictures will be set into different combinations.
Once final combinations have been defined, the pictures will be moved again – this time from the tables back onto the wall. Initially only as projections via LCD projectors in order to test the combinations with different picture sizes.
After having tested the combinations the photographs will be printed with on-site printers on paper and hung without frames. During the entire Process the gallery will stay open for visitors since the artists’ interaction with the public plays a fundamental role in the exhibition.

Second part
In the second part of the exhibition invited authors will be asked to select and/or compose texts for the newly created picture combinations. The image- and text-combinations will be presented in a reading. This part is curated by Andreas Bülhoff.
