The 2013 graduating class of the OSTKREUZSCHULE für Fotografie in Berlin would like to invite you to this year’s thesis exhibition, SIEBEN, 26 October – 08 November at Uferhallen Wedding.
Twenty-five unique photographic series have evolved under the faculty committee of Prof. Ute Mahler, Sibylle Fendt and Thomas Sandberg — all within the long-standing tradition of the OSTKREUZSCHULE, with its emphasis on the interplay between documentary and fine art photography.
During the exhibition there will be a full program of guided tours, talks (including guests Michael Biedowicz, Nico Krebs and Taiyo Onorato, amongst others), and various other special events. This year’s exhibition will take place at Uferhallen Wedding and is likely to draw thousands of visitors, not unlike previous OSTKREUZSCHULE thesis exhibitions.

Tobias Kruse (OSTKREUZ photographer, former photo-editor of Dummy magazine) in conversation with Amelie Schneider (photo-editor NEON magazine) and other guests about the meaning and future of editorial photography. Additional themes include: job distribution; search for talent; the use of private material (flickr); and budgets.
** 29.10. | 6pm | The Varieties of Photographic Experience
Anya Asbar and Daniel Augschoell from Ahorn Magazine will tell us the story behind their successful online-magazine and discuss the need for an online platform, where not only visual content is shown.
*** 02.11. | 6pm | Taiyo Onorato and Nico Krebs in conversation with Michael Biedowicz (Pavlov’s Dog)
Guest photographers, Taiyo Onorato and Nico Krebs, as well as Michael Biedowicz, from Pavlov’s Dog, will discuss matters around young contemporary photography, including how amateur photographers using photo sharing websites can influence the editorial and art world in today’s digital age. They will also touch on topics such as the way into gallery exhibitions and receiving scholarships for photographers.

Die Absolventen des 7. Abschlussjahrgangs der Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie präsentieren in der Ausstellung SIEBEN ihre fotografischen Abschlussarbeiten.
Unter Begleitung von Prof. Ute Mahler, Sibylle Fendt und Thomas Sandberg entstanden 25 Arbeiten die zu vielfältig sind um im Einzelnen genannt zu werden, sie stehen jedoch ganz in der Tradition der Ostkreuzschule, im Spannungsfeld zwischen angewandter Sozialreportage und freier Kunst.
Im Rahmen der Ausstellung finden zudem Führungen, Talks (u.a. mit Michael Biedowicz, Nico Krebs und Tayio Onorato) und weitere Sonderveranstaltungen statt. Wie jedes Jahr findet die Ausstellung im Herbst statt und zieht mehr als Tausend Besucher an. In diesem Jahr präsentieren die Absolventen Ihre Arbeiten in den Uferhallen im Wedding.

Tobias Kruse (OSTKREUZ Fotograf, ehemals Bildredakteur Dummy Magazin) u.a. im Gespräch mit Amelie Schneider (Bildredaktion NEON Magazin) diskutieren über den Sinn und die Zukunft editorialer Arbeiten und Reportagefotografie. Themen wie Jobverteilung, die Suche nach Talenten, das Schöpfen aus Privat-Material (flickr) und Budgets sollen auch an diesem Abend angesprochen werden.

Anya Asbar und Daniel Augschoell vom Ahorn Magazine erzählen uns über die Entstehungsgeschichte des erfolgreichen Online-Magazins und über die Notwendigkeit eine Plattform, in der nicht nur visuelle Inhalte präsentiert werden, zu kreieren.

An diesem Abend beschäftigen sich unsere Gäste mit junger kontemporärer Fotografie und sprechen darüber wie sie im digitalen Zeitalter, in der viele Amateure über Profi-Ausrüstungen und mediale Plattformen zur Verbreitung von Bildern verfügen, im editorialen und Kunst-Kontext stehen. Außerdem soll über den Weg in Galerien für Fotografen und Stipendien diskutiert werden.
