ACMV is now accepting photographic submissions based under the broad theme „Spectacle“.
Selected submissions will be presented in a one-time public projection at the Belfast Crescent Arts Centre during the opening weekend of the International Belfast Photo Festival 2013 in Northern Ireland, taking place this June.
The slideshow is part of a programme of projections Peggy Sue Amison (Artistic Director of Sirius Arts Centre Cobh, Belfast Festival Educations Director / Board Member) organised with Belfast Photo Festival under the heading of ‚Artist as Curator‘.

About the theme
Throughout history ‚Spectacle’s created visually stimulating and enthralling trappings that continue to capture the attention of mankind, manifesting in many forms both natural and man-made.
Our broad definition includes spectacle in otherness, suffering, death, beauty, decay and subjects that are enlivened by the act or process of photography itself, as well as our desire for the visually enticing image, that moment which excites, exhilarates and entices the curiosity of the viewer.
Recognising that ‚Spectacle‘ sits at the very heart of photography’s identity and history, we invite photographers to submit photographic projects that interrogate, challenge and extend notions of visual spectacle.
The second edition of Belfast Photo Festival aims to explore the manner in which photographers have photographed ‚Spectacles‘ in their many forms, seizing the opportunity to record their intense visual impact, demonstrating the fundamental relationship between the ‚Spectacle‘, its viewer and photography itself.
We welcome entries from professional, student and amateur photographers both nationally and internationally, being keen to support all disciplines of photographic practice.

Submission Guidelines
- Please send a maximum of 7 images (jpeg format / 72dpi / 900px on the longest side)* in a zipped file to hello (at) actualcolorsmayvary (dot) com, with the subject line „Spectacle Submission„
- Please name your images as follows: LastName_FirstName_01.jpg
- In case the images are part of a series, please include a text file with your statement/project description
- optional: include a link to your portfolio/website in your E-Mail
*In case your work is selected, we will ask you for higher resolution images.
Deadline for entries is May 11th 2013, midnight CEST.
Important Note:
By submitting your photographs you declare to be the copyright owner on the submitted images, and as the owner, to allow permission for these pictures to be used by Actual Colours May Vary {ACMV} for a one-time public projection during the Belfast Photography Festival 2013, and potentially in further promotional print- and online material concerning the Festival (Festival Website, ACMV Website & Newsletter and ACMV media channels on Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook).
You give permission for ACMV to curate these works (all, or in part) to be included in the public projection and above mentioned promotional material at Belfast Photography Festival 2013 at no cost to the Festival promoters or curators. Copyright remains with the owner at all times and the owner will always be properly credited.
